ACT
The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject areas in: English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. You'll earn one ACT score (1 to 36) on each test (English, Math, Reading and Science) and a composite ACT score, which is an average of these four tests. ACT results are accepted by all four-year colleges and universities in the U.S.
SAT
The SAT is a college admissions examination that tests critical reading, writing, and mathematics. Each section of the SAT (critical reading, mathematics, and writing) will be scored on a 200-to-800 point scale, for a possible total of 2400. You will also get two “subscores” on the writing section: a multiple choice score from 20 to 80, and an essay score from 2 to 12. The national average on the SAT is 1500.
PSAT-NMSQt
What is it? The PSAT is an exam that is taken during the junior year to practice for the SAT. It is also the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. This is a national exam that is only given once each Fall. This years exam is scheduled for October 28th, 2023.
Sophomores are welcome to test as a practice but will not be eligible for the scholarship competition. All fees and sign up is the same.
How to sign up: Students interested in taking this exam, notify Ms. Grethen by September 2023. In the past the cost of the exam was $18.
How to prepare: When the receipts is turned in, you may pick up a PSAT-NMSQT practice book and a check out www.4tests.com for more study skills. It has a full length practice test, and a ton of information regarding all the scholarship opportunities out there for students with qualifying scores. More information can also be found at www.collegeboard.org.
